Work Crew & Community Service

Work Crew

Work Crew provides youth with the opportunity to give back to the community by participating in supervised volunteer work through Umatilla County Juvenile Division. In some cases, work crews can also be used to work off restitution. Work Crew allows both informal and formal court probation participants to operate on scheduled days, and participants are supervised at all times. This structured environment promoted prosocial behavior, peer collaboration, and positive engagement.

Community Service

Community Service is valuable for youth to engage and give back to their communities while incorporating important life skills. It often involves volunteering with non-profit organizations that support a wide range of causes. Some of these programs include food banks, shelters, parks, school, and local events.

There are many benefits to participating in community service. Helping youth build critical life skills such as accountability, empathy, and a sense of purpose, and in some cases, develop skills by exploring interests such as animals, sports or the environment.

Getting youth engaged in community service can be easier when the work feels meaningful to them. Community service is a great way for youth to fulfill both informal probation and formal probation requirements.
