What is a Family Planning Clinic?

There are only two ways to prevent a pregnancy.

  • Do not have intercourse.
  • Use an effective birth control method. 

Choosing the right birth control method for you depends on getting accurate information about it and making sure you are physically able to tolerate the method.  All Services provided at the clinic are strictly confidential.

What does A Family Planning Clinic involve?

  • All new clients at a family Planning Clinic, will receive information about human reproduction, birth control methods and sexually transmitted diseases (STD)
  • Clinic nurses are available to answer questions.
  • Every client will be interviewd by a clinic nurse member who will review their gyneclolgical and medical hsitory.
  • The client is then examined by a physician or family planning nurse practitioner. The physical examination includes: heart, lung, thyroid, abdominal, breast exam, pelvic exam, Pap smear for cervical cancer, STD testing and appropriate lab work.
  • If the medical history, lab work and physical examination are within normal limits, a birth control method of the client's choice can be prescribed

Birth Control Methods:

Information and referral sources on other birth control methods including IUD, Norplant, Natural Family Planning, Ortho Evra and Sterilization are availbable at the clinic.

What does it Cost?

Fees for services are based on your ability to pay. No one is denied service due to insufficient funds.
