POSITION: Deputy District Attorney II
POSITION #: 10-02
DEPARTMENT: Umatilla County District Attorney's Office
SALARY: DA II $ 4266 /month (to start); plus excellent benefits

POSITION SUMMARY: Staff Attorney. Defends the Federal and State constitutions. Acts as an officer of the Court and deputy to the chief law enforcement official in Umatilla County. Reports to crime scenes when called. Participates in an on-call list rotation for after hours access for local law enforcement agencies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Review for prosecution all incoming matters. Make charging decisions. Prepare charging documents and participates in presenting cases to the Grand Jury. Negotiates cases filed with defense attorneys and represents the state in all District Court matters. Engage in legal research, writing, pre-trial, trial and post-trial practice.
REQUIREMENTS: Oregon State Bar membership; 0-5 years legal experience. Previous criminal law experience preferred. Commitment to team work. Motivation and ability to work with various agencies and individuals in dealing with crime. Ability to prioritize work and be able to work alone with little or no supervision at times. Ability to remain firm in their efforts to seek Justice. Computer and Word user skills preferred.
