Marriage Licenses can be purchased Monday thru Friday (closed legal holidays) between the hours of 9:00a.m. & 4:30p.m. at the Umatilla County Records Office located in Room 106 of the County Courthouse at:

BOTH PARTIES MUST:
Be present at the time of purchase.
Have valid photo ID that shows date of birth (driver’s license, state issued ID card or valid passport.)
Be at least 18 years of age.
(EITHER PARTY MAY BE MARRIED AT THE AGE OF 17 WITH PARENTAL CONSENT. A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN OF THE MINOR MUST BE PRESENT AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE AND MUST BRING ONE FORM OF ID LISTED ABOVE & THE CHILD’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE.)
Know their own social security number.
Know mother’s full maiden name & state of birth.
Know father’s full name & state of birth.
Know date of most recent divorce or date of death if widowed.
LICENSE FEE - $60.00 PAYABLE BY CASH OR CREDIT CARD ONLY (NO CHECKS)
At the time of application both parties will be asked to select the legal name they wish to assume upon marrying. The assumed name will appear as a matter of record on the license. Any changes to the selected name after initial application date & up to time of filing the record with the State Vital Records Unit can only be made by paying and additional $25.00 Amendment fee. Any changes to the selected name after filing with the State Vital Records Unit can only be made by court order.
There is a 3 CALENDAR DAY WAITING PERIOD per ORS 106.077(2)(d) from the date of purchase before the marriage can occur. The license is then valid for 60 calendar days and may be used anywhere in the State of Oregon only.
There is no judge or justice of the peace at the courthouse that performs marriages. We do have a county-wide list of ministers & municipal judges arranged by city available upon request.
Requesting a Copy of Marriage License Record
A certified copy of your marriage license record will be required to show your legal name and relationship status after marriage. You will receive a memento certificate; however, this is not a legal document. You request a certified copy of your marriage license record for $7.75 by visiting our office, over the phone 541-278-6236, or via email firstname.lastname@example.org.
